Stewardship Update
Thank you to the about one fourth of our congregation who have already submitted their 2020 pledges!
This is a gentle reminder to please submit your pledge by this Sunday, November 10, to enable us to best plan our 2020 budget to cover our necessary operations expenses as well as to best make your expressed wishes and dreams for UU Oakland a reality!
Also, save the date. Sunday, November 17th is Celebration Sunday. Join inspiring guest minister, Rev. Ranwa Hammamy, Executive Director of the UU Justice Ministry of California and President of DRUUMM (Diverse Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries). Then, join us in Wendte Hall for a celebratory lunch where will honor our collective generosity towards our 2020 Stewardship goal.
Please contact stewardship@uuoakland.com with any questions about your pledge or to join in the fun of helping in our Stewardship Celebration!
With Gratitude,

Child Dedication December 1 during worship. In the UU tradition, we bless our infants and children and the congregation commits to their care in the ritual of a child dedication. Our next child dedication will be during Sunday morning worship on December 1st. If you are a member of the church and would like to have your child dedicated please contact Rev. Sheri revsheri@uuoakland.org.

Friday, November 15, The Whole Queer Story with S Bear Bergman, 7:30– 9 PM, Room TBA. 90 delicious minutes of queer and trans storytelling for your tender heart: A six-year-old contrives an elaborate excuse to remove a despised frilly top and run through the backyard sprinkler shirtless as the neighborhood boys are free to do. The laundry-room discovery of a transgender college student’s boxer-briefs during a visit home leads to a blow-up with his parents. A celebration soured by gender policing takes an unexpectedly delicious left-turn into victory. A queer, Jewish, trans, international wedding unites two very different, and very nervous, families.

Heartbreaking, astutely observant, and broadly illuminating, S. Bear Bergman tells stories that draw universal laughter (and sometimes tears) from his queer and trans experiences.Pay What You Can at the door, suggested ticket price $20.
