Sun., Nov 18, “The Beautiful Pillow Show,”11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Wendte Hall. Join us after service in Wendte Hall where there will be a short performance of “The Beautiful Pillow Show” by Corless Smith, a work that grew out of outrage and chagrin at the homelessness around us. Wanting to do something personal, Corless arrived at the decision to make 12 patchwork pillows in intriguing designs, tasty colors, and satisfying heft. These pillows will be silently auctioned, and all proceeds will go to the Minister’s Discretionary Fund which the members, friends and allies of First Unitarian Church of Oakland use to minister to those in need who frequently come by the church asking for help. We Usually meet the third Monday of each month. In November, we will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Mondays Instead. We meet to cultivate peace from within, nurturing self-awareness, kindness, and compassion for all beings. Meditators of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Silent meditation for 40 minutes followed by treats and gentle conversation.
