Jan. 8, 2023 – Tolling of the Bells: Honoring Their Spirit

As we start 2023, we care for ourselves and support each other by taking time to honor those who have passed in 2022. Our annual Tolling of the Bells is a traditional Anglo-Saxon ritual of healing, both of memory and honor.

We remember and celebrate those we have been blessed to know and love and who are no longer with us. Created with Pastor Ninán, the service will be presided by Rev Mary Foran and Jef Melcher this Sunday, while Pastor Ninan is away for a medical necessity and recuperation.

The beginning of a new voyage round the sun and acknowledging our losses and grief are tender topics. Please know that our Pastoral Associates are here to listen compassionately and witness you. Reach out via email to pastoralcare@uuoakland.org.

If you’re joining us for the first time, we would like to extend a full welcome!  Please answer a few questions on our online Guest Connection Card.  When at church on Sunday, you can also ask questions & get help at the Greeting Table on the patio before the service.

On most Sundays right after the service, we have a quick Newcomer Welcome in the sanctuary — meet up with a church member in front by the pulpit, for a quick introduction to the church and answers to your questions — then join us in Wendte Hall for Coffee Hour.  If you attend via Zoom, you can stay in the Zoom session after the service for informal discussion in our Virtual Coffee Hour.

We look forward to you joining us for worship service each week! For more information, check out About Worship.
