Kwanzaa Celebration
ONE SERVICE ONLY
This year’s Kwanzaa theme is Embracing Kwanzaa’s Principles and Practices:
Creating and Celebrating the Good
Join Rev. Jacqueline, worship associate Bill Blakely, Joyful Noise, Geoff Ullerich and talented drummers as we join together to celebrate family, community, culture and the second day of Kwanzaa.
We will begin with a brief reflection in the church sanctuary, process to the porch of First Unitarian Church of Oakland where we will move our bodies to drum music and then dance over to the African American Museum & Library.
At the library we will breath in the exhibit, The Sentence Unseen: Celebrating Resilience. This exhibit speaks boldly and loudly to self determination, the second principle of Kwanzaa.
We will conclude our celebration with a cultural specific pot luck at First Unitarian Church in Wendte Hall. Please come, invite your friends and neighbors. There will be ONE Kwanzaa service beginning at 10:20 AM. All are welcome!!!!
