Celebrate 150 Years of First Unitarian in Wendte Hall After Service.

This Sunday is our final formal celebration event of our 150th anniversary. After the worship service with Revs. Janne and Rob Eller-Isaacs, gather in Wendte Hall for a special, light lunch. The food served will be prepared by a group of women from our congregation, using recipes from Contemporary African American Chefs from Oakland were selected, tested and adapted for this celebration. We will celebrate with our community allies and partners. This will also be the book release celebration for “Gather The Spirit: History of the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 1869 – 2000” by Rev. Tues., Feb. 26, All out to Board of Supervisors: Stop Urban Shield, 11:00 AM, Meet at 1221 Oak St. This is the final vote by Board of Supervisors on stopping Urban Shield – the militarized police training. Come show your support for the recommendations for community-based emergency preparedness, de-escalation, and demilitarized disaster response.  Meet at 11 at 1221 Oak St. to make a big difference! Recommendations include: –Eliminating SWAT teams competition & eliminating the weapons expo! Sun., March 3, Video Viewing Parties for the Curious, 2:30 PM – 5 PM Room at Church: TBA. Learn about the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC), a way of looking at attitudes and behaviors that hinder and help us to progress on our journey toward multicultural community.
