The Good News of the Hillsides

WEB DuBois tells us that, “[I]t is the spirit that knows Beauty.” Unitarian Universalists embrace the symbolism of flowers to share some of the good news of our values.  This service will include a variety of observance, ritual, and celebration.

This is the first Ingathering, or New Member ceremony, that we have celebrated since the Fall of 2019 because of the COVID-19 closures.  Come, welcome and meet our new members, as we commit to each other, our community, and our commonly-held UU principles!

We will also be observing Flower Ceremony (some folks call this flower communion).  Bring a flower or a vegetable to share.  For folks attending in Hamilton Hall, if you color or print a flower page, we can share it with Zoom attendees.

There are three ways to attend this worship service:

  • In person: Please be prepared to show proof of up-to-date COVID vaccination or recent negative test, and wear a mask. For details on what is needed to enter the building, be sure to read the Reopening Plans on our website. You may provide proof of vaccination in advance by completing the form at All are invited to stay after worship for Coffee Hour in Wendte Hall.
  • Live stream: To view the live stream, go to from any internet browser or with the installed Twitch app on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Closed captions will be provided. A Twitch account is not required to watch, but an account is required to participate in online chat. The stream starts at 10:15 AM, and music commences at 10:20 AM.
  • Zoom: Join the worship service and Virtual Coffee Hour from any internet browser or with the installed Zoom app. Closed captions will be provided. A Zoom account is not required. The first part consists of watching the live stream, and the second part continues our practice of online Coffee Hour with a Newcomer Welcome breakout room. “Doors” open at 10 AM and music commences at 10:20 AM. After the service, we have informal discussion in our Virtual Coffee Hour — just stay in the same Zoom session after service ends. During that coffee hour, you can join our Newcomer Welcome breakout room for a quick introduction to the church and answers to your questions.
