Small Is Good

If you’re joining us for the first time, we would like to extend a full welcome! Please answer a few questions on our Guest Connection Card. * * *

This prerecorded service will give us a chance to explore how small is good and what the pandemic is revealing about treasures that lie there. Pastor Theresa and Alex invite you to bring a stuffed animal friend to watch the service with you. You will be able to upload a picture of your stuffy to a shared presentation. (Pictures, drawings, stories, videos are all welcome.) The worship team includes Pastor Theresa and Alex Haider-Winnett, along with Vincent Raines and Stefan Schneider.

This pre-recorded worship video will premiere at 10:30 AM on the First Unitarian Church of Oakland YouTube channel and will be available for on-demand viewing thereafter. The chat panel will be available for realtime comments and reactions during the premiere. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get premiere notifications via email. A recording of the worship service will also be posted on First Unitarian Church of Oakland’s Facebook page.

Events for Children and Youth

  • Children’s Chapel
10:00-10:25 AM with NIcole Fitzhugh. If you need information on how to access, please contact Nicole or Alex.
  • Club UU is Now Part of Our Worship Community
We are currently assessing the future of Club UU–Our Middle School and Tweenage Group. While we discern its future, we encourage all families to worship together during our Sunday service. From the comfort of your own home, worship however you best see fit. Get up and dance and sing during hymns, write or draw during the sermon, create your own prayer rituals. However you wish to worship, do so as a family and with our larger community. Children’s Chapel and Youth Group Hangouts are still being offered before and after service respectively. If you have any question, feedback, or concern about religious education at UU Oakland, please contact our Interim Director of Religious Education Alex.
  • Youth Group Kick Off!
12:00-1:00 PM. All high school aged youth are welcome to join us with a song that supports you during these hard times. Prepare a link to share with the group. This week, Interim DRE Alex will be joining Amy to say hi to the group and help decide what the meetings and activities will be like this year. Contact AmyAlex or Nicole for Zoom information.

Virtual Coffee Hour

You bring your drink or snack, and we will begin at 11:30 AM with a couple of sing-along songs, followed by an opportunity for everyone to check in. You will need a Zoom link to join. For Zoom details, pleas email with COFFEE HOUR in the subject line.
