The First Unitarian Church of Oakland offers an array of groups, classes and workshops designed to challenge and inspire adult learners on the journey of faith formation in our Unitarian Universalist Community.

Our current groups include:

  • Book Discussion Group – Meets 4th Thusdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, on Zoom
    Led by Emily Stoper.  Check-in followed by discussion of a nonfiction book.

  • Poetry Circle – Meets 1st Sundays, 9:30-10:10 AM, both Zoom & in-person options
    Led by Ron Weisberg.  Bring a favorite poem including one you’ve written.

  • Meditation Sangha – Meets 3rd Mondays, 7:15 to 8:30 PM, both Zoom & in-person options
    Led by Carol Emert, the meditation sangha gathers monthly for sweet fellowship, 40 minutes of silent meditation, prayers of loving kindness, and tea.  We welcome meditators of all backgrounds and experience levels.

  • El Club de Español – Meets weekly on Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 PM, on Zoom
    Each week we have a theme to talk about, including books, movies, or a video we all watch and then discuss. Most participants are intermediate-level Spanish speakers, but everyone is welcome and may participate as they are able.
