No In-Person Services for the Remainder of March 2020:

Important Message From the Board of Trustees and Pastor Theresa on Our Response to the Coronavirus

Beloveds,

The First Unitarian Church of Oakland Board of Trustees and Pastor Theresa intend to respond to the current Coronavirus pandemic in a way that is fully consistent with our Unitarian Universalist values.

In this challenging moment, we are thinking specifically of The inherent worth and dignity of every person (including those with compromised immune systems) AND respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are all a part.

To this end, SUNDAY SERVICES ARE STREAMING ONLINE ONLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF MARCH.

We are a loving and close-knit community and the urge to hug, shake hands, and stay physically close is so fundamental to us that we feel we cannot risk being in church together. The current CDC recommendations are to stay at least six feet apart from one another. For the good of ourselves and the larger community, we need to take this deeply responsible and protective measure.

Pastor Theresa will share their sermon video on Sunday on FUCO Facebook page. We will send out instructions for how to access this later in the week.

The Board and Pastor Theresa ask ALL church groups to refrain from in-person meetings. This includes Children and Family Ministries, along with Our Whole Lives classes and Adult Faith Formation events and classes.

We are developing support for maintaining our social connections and meetings during this time. We encourage you to use video conferencing, phone conferencing and social media for your church meetings. Please contact us if you need support or suggestions for that.

WE WILL SEND TIMELY CALLS AND EMAILS REGARDING OUR DEVELOPING PLANS.
Please reply to this email with questions. Pastor Theresa will be available for clarification and conversation,
