Welcome to Utunes Coffee House
Utunes Coffee House is a concert series that features an eclectic mix of mostly acoustic music, including traditional and folkloric music from around the world, along with original music influenced by those forms.
Our venue is the First Unitarian Church of Oakland (685 14th Street, Oakland, CA), which is one of the best in the area for both performing and listening, and includes a pleasant, cozy atmosphere, the best coffee we know how to make, snacks, and a high quality sound system.

Mo-Rockin Project
This group of North African and American musicians exchange cultures and creativity in an effort to dispel inaccurate beliefs and create world community. This music was handcrafted from traditional Moroccan melodies, and is a satisfying blend of these melodies with American jazz and blues.
This music was handcrafted from traditional Moroccan melodies, and with striking musicianship, salient vision, and immeasurable spirit, celebrates the creative confluence that is Mo’Rockin Project. The music is alluring, lyrical, creative, funky, spirited and spiritual. With compatible musical minds and a need to create community, Mo’Rockin Project has taken on a life of its own.
The instant juxtaposition of multicultural melodic themes perched on the edge of inclusion... there is no musical territory uncharted no space unexplored.
Powerfully orchestrated horns, funky percussion and deep bass grooves lay ground for a musical exploration highlighting trumpet, oud, violin guitar, sax, keytar and vocal lines embodying the best of Miles and MoTown, of Nusrat and Farka Toure , Spinning the globe from North Africa to North America, (even riffing on a Stephen Foster tune), bridging the cultural chasm and challenging us to listen more carefully. In other words a truly original mix.

SoVoSó is a highly imaginative a cappella ensemble that sings a unique, rhythmic mix of jazz, gospel, world and R&B music, all rendered in their trademark improvisational style.

Alan Senauke, Chad Manning, and Eric and Suzy Thompson— are joining forces to perform a dazzling array of stringband music: oldtime, blues, bluegrass, and hokum. Each is a respected musician locally and nationally. Together they offer a night of fun, great singing, and exciting picking.
